A Homemade Beauty Gift

It's always a good idea to have some quick and easy beauty gifts on hand for birthday or little pick me up for your friend and family. But if you want something that is just that little bit more special then why not try creating your own beauty products to give away as gifts? It's actually a lot more simple that you would think, and it's the perfect present for the health conscious and holistic person in your life. Just read on to find out how to do it.

The Problem With Commercial Face Scrubs

Who doesn't like to use a nice exfoliating scrub now and again? They are brilliant at removing dull, dead skin. As well as giving your face an amazing deep clean. Which is especially good if you have been wearing makeup all week. But did you know that the products with microbeads in are actually highly dangerous to the environment?

This is because they are actually made from tiny plastic beads, that don't biodegrade when they wash away down the drain. That means that the end up in the water supply and create all sort of havoc with wildlife. However, there are face scrubs that don't contain these, and you can even make one yourself pretty easily in your own home.

Packaging

If you are making it as a beauty gift be sure to have a nice container to put in. Preferably a glass one, so something like a Kilner Jar will work quite well. You can even get mini versions of these, now which look great as part of a set.

It's also a super cute idea to get some labels and write on them what it is and what is in it. Then folks can easily tell if they are allergic to any of the ingredients. Finish it off with a ribbon around the neck of the jar, and you are good to go.

The Recipe

To make the scrub all you need is 1 cup of almond pulp. This is the stuff that is left over when you make almond milk at home. If you fancy having a go at this too, you can find some instructions here.

For this, you will need to look at buying almonds in bulk, so try a company like Super Nuts online that deliver straight to your home. Then you add in half a cup of cold pressed sweet almond oil. The cold pressing is important because if affects how the amino acid chain is formed and makes it much healthier for you body. The add in a few drops of a pure essential oil of your choice for scent.

You can even make this recipe including coconut as well, and you can find more detail about it at http://www.incrediblesmoothies.com.

Shelf life

Just remember like any product that you make at home, it won't last as long as a shop bought one. This is because there are no so many preservatives in it. So encourage the recipient to use it up sooner rather than later.
