Happy Heart: Omega 3 Recipes You Will Love

When people say they love food it always sounds a little funny.  Who doesn’t love food?! Granted some may have more refined tastes than others but even eating a mountain of chocolate is still enjoying food right?

Coping With An Ill Child

Kids get ill for all kinds of reasons. Some are far more serious than others, and there are certain things that will suffer if you need to take care of your kid in increasingly larger amounts of time. Luckily, there are ways you can manage this and help the child. Part of it depends on your circumstances, and other parts depend on how ill your child is. There is not clear advice as to what you need to do, only you can decide that. But there are ways you can cope yourself with an ill child. You need to ensure your life goes as you want it to too. Of course, you need to do what is right for the child, but you can quickly find yourself depressed if you do not manage the whole issue with planning and prioritization. Here are some hints and tips you can use to make the situation a little better. You may already do some of them, but you could get some top ideas for you to take into life from others.

Find Out What’s Responsible

You need to find out what is responsible for causing your child to be ill, then you can mitigate it in the future and/or hold whatever did it to account. There are huge amounts of child products that are causing children harm in this day and age. The harm can be fleeting, like a physical injury, but it can also be lasting and life threatening. An example can be seen in the high amount of teething tablet lawsuits that have increased over the last few years. If there is something wrong with your child go to your utmost to realize and understand what it is that has caused it. Only then can you stop it. If there is serious problems take the provider to court so that it doesn’t happen to anyone else and so you can use the money to help in the care for your child going forward. Another key is prevention. There’s one thing suing people for hurting your child, but if you researched the potential risk then you may never have bought it. Check up on everything you buy for your children, make sure they are perfectly safe before using them. Prevention is the best thing you can do.

You Should Never, Ever Do These Things To Your Newborn

If you’ve got a newborn baby, or you’re waiting on the arrival of your little one, then doing as much research as possible is going to help you to prepare. To give you peace of mind, here are some of the things you should never, ever do to your newborn.

Make Them Sleep Alone
Your baby should naturally sleep by you at night time. Either in your bed (safely of course) or by your bed in a crib. This makes them healthier and they have less chance of dying from infant death syndrome.

Avoid The Present Panic When Shopping For Your Teenage Son

Buying the perfect birthday gift for kids is never easy. Their tastes change so fast they’ve already moved on by the time you buy something. You would think the challenge would get easier as they grew and their tastes settled. You’d be wrong. No one is harder to buy gifts for than a teenager. If you have a teenage boy, you might be totally lost for ideas. At least with a girl, you can opt for fashion and makeup. Boys don’t even have that! You could get him something new for that games console, but how can you be sure what’s good? The best way to stop present panic is to get a few ideas!

CONCERT TICKETS

We’re not saying you should snoop in your son’s room, but have a quick look at his CD collection when he’s not home. If there’s more than one CD for the same band, chances are they’re his favorites. Why not buy him tickets to see a concert? Bear in mind that you’ll need purchase a ticket for his friend to go, too. He’s not going to want you cramping his style! Of course, if the band are no longer together, or have passed, you’ll need to pick another. Think back to any bands he may have mentioned. Take note of any posters he might have on his walls. There are clues all around you!

HIS FIRST WALLET

A man’s first wallet is a crucial moment. It’s a step towards independence, and can make a guy feel great! Even if your son’s had cheap wallets before, buy him an expensive one for his birthday. This is something he can cherish and will have for a long time to come. Well, assuming it doesn’t get lost or ruined (he is a teenager, after all). You could opt for a traditional leather wallet, or get something a bit different, like a crocodile wallet. Think about your son’s personality when considering. If he likes to stand out from the crowd, something different will work well. If he likes to keep to himself, traditional is better.

AN IMPORTANT BOOK

Connecting with teenagers can be hard. Why not give your son a book that that meant a lot to you when you were his age? Again, it’s important to take his personality into account, here. Don’t buy a book you know he’ll never enjoy! Think about his tastes, and see if there’s a book that suits them. This will give you something to talk about, and could come to mean a lot to him!

A DAY OUT WITH MATES

If all else fails, you could always opt for a day out with his friends. If you’re stuck for ideas, look out for the chance to ask his friends what he would enjoy. Paintballing, go karting, and theme parks always seem to go down well! If you want to keep things cheap, opt for an activity day with a set price. Otherwise, this could end up as a pricey present!

Life Happens

I feel like I haven't posted a personal post in such a long time. So I'm going to take this time to just give some life updates, as that's what my blog was originally started on.

First off, I finished off the fall semester with a 4.0. I only had two classes, Eng 101 and a retail marketing class. Both received As. I don't think I'll keep that 4.0 this semester, unfortunately. these classes are a little harder. This time I have a math class, and two marketing classes- intro to marketing, and social media marketing. I'm hopeful to get at lease Bs in those classes :)

Also, in the middle of January, I got hired for a job! I've been wanting to go back to work for a while now, but I finally decided to get out there and found a sitter, and a found a great job that has good hours. I'm super happy. I started there on January 30th. I'm now balancing a job, being a mom, and schoolwork. I feel like it's a bit crazy! But I'm making it work.

I think one of my biggest fears with starting a new job, was how the heck will I interact with adults, again LOL. But, this training class I'm in, currently has eight people, including myself. We're a good bunch, and we all get along. I've never meshed with so many people at the same time in like, forever. I'm feeling good about it. I'm confident in what I've learned, and I actually start doing the work later this week. Training is just about over, and we go into the "actively working" part of the training. So I'm excited. Of course a bit nervous, who wouldn't be.

Anyways. I'm looking forward to this new chapter of my life, and I'm super excited to see what happens next.

Don’t Take The Chance: Make Home Maintenance A Priority

For us moms, time is of the essence - every second really does count because our lives are just so incredibly hectic. We have school runs to do, household chores to complete, our own careers to focus on, and goodness knows what else. With so much going on in our lives, it’s far too easy for us to put important tasks to the back of our minds and let them slip through the net. One of the most common tasks to forget are household maintenance tasks; this is because most of the time we don’t see them as being a priority. However, if you don’t want to end up living in a mess of a home, you need to make them a priority. (Household maintenance is much more important than a lot of us think…)

pretty house.jpg

Why is home maintenance important?

Wondering why household maintenance is important? Well, it’s simple really, to stay ‘healthy’ your home needs to be looked after, just like our bodies do. Houses may not be living breathing things, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t need a little TLC every now and then. The fact is if you don’t keep on top of household maintenance tasks, your property could, quite literally, start to fall apart in front of you. So, it really is important to make an effort to give your property, and its features the care it requires.

The Paleo Diet: A Quick Guide To Get You Started

If you research the paleo diet then you might have been put off a little by the description.  It does sound a little faddy, eat like a caveman.  It’s not quite as basic as it sounds, you don’t have to grab a club, say ‘Ugg’ and head off to the woods, wearing nothing but a little fur to protect your dignity.  The simple explanation to a Paleo diet is simply only eating foods that need no processing, or to put it in even simpler terms.  Food that you can either eat raw or prepare from source using just a little water.  The diet is what our ancestors, cavemen, would have eaten.  Although we suspect recipes were a little more primitive back then.

Where The Heart Is: Keeping The Home Ideal For Kids

pexels-photo-165884.jpeg
When you have children running around at home, it goes without saying that it can be difficult keeping everything in perfect condition. The truth is, children need certain conditions if they are to be as happy as possible, and it pays to know how to make the home into the ideal setting for your children. There are many things to consider in this respect, and knowing them all should help you to bring up your children in an environment which helps them, rather than hinders them. If you are curious about what the basic elements of a comfortable home for children are, read on to find out.

Suitable Decoration

This might sound like a strange one to start with, but the way that the home is decorated makes a big difference to how you children feel in the home. As a general rule, you want to make sure that all the decoration is as suitable as possible for children of their age. This doesn’t mean that you can’t have your favorite portrait hanging up, it just means that in terms of color scheme and so on it pays to think about the children at every step of the decision-making process. That way, they are much more likely to feel safe and at home within the house.

Light & Warmth

Something which is important enough for adults is always going to be much more important for children - light and warmth being two great examples. The last thing you want is for your children to suffer the cold in their own home, so make sure that you are carrying out any necessary steps towards keeping it as warm as possible - without overdoing it, of course. You might want to consider using a residential heating and A/C repair service in order to ensure that the home is not likely to suffer any dramatic sudden temperature changes anytime soon. This way, your children are sure to be as comfortable as possible. Also ensure that the light levels are always as good as possible, as this makes a huge difference too.

Plenty Of Space

Trying to arrange the right amount of space in the home can be a challenge for anyone, but when you have kids running around it is particularly difficult. As a rule, you want enough space that they can run around without damaging themselves, but you don’t want to sacrifice too much in the communal areas. Make sure that there is a healthy balance, that it is neither too spacious nor too restricted anywhere, and this way everyone should be happy in the home. Space is a difficult thing to manage, but it is worth putting some effort into it to try and get it right. When you do, it can really make a world of difference to how comfortable your kids feel in the home and, therefore, how happy the whole family is there. And what is more important than that?

Low Self-Esteem is Dangerous - Tackle It Today.

The statistics on body image are pretty alarming. While it’s difficult to gauge precisely if someone genuinely has low self-esteem, we do seem to be seeing a lot of news and figures that seem to suggest that we’re having something of a crisis of self-esteem.

Someone with low self-esteem has a hard time appreciating themselves. Some people may think that is a fairly trivial problem. But it can lead to a host of larger problems, such as depression and a lack of motivation. Life’s problems just feel much bigger than they actually are.

Daylight Robbery! Keeping Your Home Safe Doesn't Have To Be Expensive!

No matter what you do, at some point, a criminal interaction may occur in your life. This may very well be through no fault of your own, and it could be a verbal confrontation or even something you’ve witnessed. Things like this happen.

Many crimes can be prevented, of course. You wouldn’t walk around a neighborhood filled with crime telling everyone about your unlocked Porsche and showing off a gold plated watch, would you? No. In the same essence, you might be advertising your home to the prying eyes of the world’s criminals - and you might not even know it.
You can be the best you that you can be, you can be fit, smart and healthy - but it won’t matter if your home is a target. No criminal cares about what you have achieved personally, they care about how easy your property is to enter and how much money they can make from you.

There are very easy ways to make your house a target. Simple negligence is one. If you let flyers build up, your lawn and plants overgrow or even leave your home on full display; people will take notice of this and in many cases, the person taking notice may want a closer look - so they can see if your property is worth the risk of breaking in.

Now, look above - you see the ways a criminal can notice your property?  The solutions to these issues may not cost you a penny. Mow your lawn, take care of the exterior of your home, remove flyers and junk mail and pull your curtains or blinds together when you’re not in the house. How much did that cost you assuming you own the tools to take care of your lawn? Nothing except time and a bit of sweat.
Most solutions to securing your home and keeping it safe aren’t going to cost you a fortune. If you haven’t got the money to purchase an alarm system (you should find the money), you can order stickers that can be plastered over your home to deter criminals and foster the illusion that you own said system (more information on stickers and signs can be found here: alarm-reviews.net/fake-security-signs-stickers-fool-anyone/).

Simply put, do the basics right. Lock your doors, move valuables out of view, give the illusion that the property is protected, care for the property and maintain the property. If you cover the basics, you’re lowering the chances that a criminal will eye up your property. The first step to a robbery is the assessment, and if you can prevent a criminal even looking at your house, you’ve already won, and it won’t leave you out of pocket.

That all being said, spare no expense. Do you know what will cost you the most? Replacing all the items, memories, and goods that will be stolen from you because you didn’t take the right precautions. Be the hero of your household and secure it.
