4 Amazing Ways to Make Your Meals Healthier This Summer

With summer here, quite a few of us are on the lookout for ways that we can be healthier. We all know that we need to move more, right? We need to exercise and burn up more calories than we consume. To lose weight anyway. But a lot of our health is cooked up in the kitchen.  The key to our health is what we eat. It can affect our weight, our energy levels and other ailments too. So how can you actually eat better food and cook in a more healthy way? Here are some of my thoughts.


Eat More Whole Foods

It can be a case of ‘easier said than done’ but where possible, make things from scratch. If you are making your own sauces and marinades, for example, they will be filled with goodness. If you check the label on something like a pasta sauce, it is filled with sugar and lots of preservatives that you might not be able to pronounce. So look up some recipes to make your own. They will be full or real food and no added sugar in sight. Eating more whole foods will mean you have more energy, and they fill you up for longer too. Other easy ways to eat more whole foods are avoiding refined products like white flour, bread, and cakes. Eating plant-based foods will be much better for you. So snack on things like nuts, seeds, veggie stick, hummus, and fruit.

Grill Food Instead of Frying

Quite often, it can be easy just to reach for the frying pan. But if we are cooking up foods that are high in fat, coated in lots of calorific oil, it can’t be too good for us. So think about choosing to grill foods like bacon and sausages, instead of frying them. Then you can reduce the amount of fatty oil that you consume. You can even roast things like veggies, instead of frying them in oil. It means you are eating fewer calories so it will be much better for you.


Use an Air Fryer

Following on from the above point, you could consider getting an air fryer, as well as grilling some foods. An air fryer is a kitchen gadget that will help you to be healthier. You can enjoy a lot of your favorite foods, without them being dripping in fat. You can use an air fryer to make fries and chicken nuggets, without using any oil or fat. Make Your Plate Colorful

To be eating the healthiest food, it is important to make your plate look colorful. The more color on the plate, the more vitamins and minerals you will be eating. So fill your plate with things like green spinach, yellow corn, red peppers, and orange sweet potatoes. Try to avoid having too many things that are beige or brown in color.
