12 Methods To Make Sure You Get Your Security Deposit Back

If you’ve never rented a property before, you might not know what a security deposit is. It’s the term for the initial cost you agree to pay to ensure you keep your rental property up to scratch. In some countries, it’s simply called a deposit or a rental bond. It acts as a way of providing security for the lender just in case you end up trashing the property. It’s an important part of the rental process, and it should never be overlooked by either party.

Unfortunately, there are quite a few gray areas that come with security deposits. When it’s time to move out of the property, and you want that money back, you might face a few troubles. Normally, it’s never fully explained what is required to ensure that money is back in your hands. Today, we’re going to outline a number of steps you should take in order to make sure you get repaid. Let’s get started!

Ideas To Celebrate A Special Occasion On A Budget

Celebrations come in all shapes and sizes. Birthdays, anniversaries, achievements, you name it. However, being on a budget can put a downer on some of the celebrations for some people. Just because you’re on a budget, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t celebrate whatever it is you’re celebrating. You can still have a great time on a budget. Here are some ideas to inspire you!

Throw A Garden Party

If you have a garden, why not throw a garden party to celebrate a special occasion? You can make this as lavish as you like, but you don’t need to spend much at all. Buy the ingredients to make a few simple dishes and a few cheap drinks, and voila! If you like you can splash out on slightly fancier things, and maybe even decorate a little. If you have a firepit and fairy lights, the party will likely go on for longer. This is a great idea for celebrating in the summer.

Cook A Nice Meal

If you’re celebrating an anniversary or something like that, why not cook a nice meal? All you need is the ingredients, and it’ll likely be a fraction of the price that you’d pay at a restaurant. You can find all kinds of recipes online, and many are ridiculously easy to follow. Nothing says celebration quite like yummy food!

Make A Gift Yourself

Got no money to buy a gift? Don’t worry. Make one yourself. There are so many easy gifts you can make with basic materials. It’s the thought that counts, and if someone sees you have put the effort in like this, they’ll love it. You could make them a jar filled with notes about things you love about them. You could make them a picture frame, scrapbook, or anything you think they’ll find sentimental. If you have a skill, such as a musical instrument, you could even write them a song!

Get Some Fireworks

Fireworks aren’t too pricy and they can be great for really celebrating in style. You could even have them with your garden party to make it extra special! You can purchase fireworks online too, so you haven’t got to worry about searching for them out of season. Just make sure you are careful when you use them, as they can be hazardous if you don’t.

Do Something Different

Rather than doing something expensive, like going to a 5 star restaurant or even going away for the weekend, do something different. Go for a hike and take a picnic. Host a film night with lots of sweets and friends. Camp out in the garden for your kid’s birthdays. They won’t cost much at all, but they’ll still be extra special.

See, just because you’re on a budget doesn’t mean you shouldn’t celebrate a special occasion. You have no excuse when there are so many things you can do that barely cost anything. Do you have ideas of your own you’d like to share? Leave a comment below. Thanks for reading!

Household Present Ideas For A Couple!

Buying a present for one person can be hard enough, but buying for a couple can be a nightmare! Whether it’s for a wedding present or a Christmas gift, it can be hard to decide what to buy them. Here are some useful present ideas which will be ideal for their home!

An item for a couple’s kitchen will go down well as a useful gift they can use on a daily basis. A kettle is especially a handy thing that they can make use of for several years to come. If they are fans of hot drinks, it will be quite meaningful to them. They will use it first thing in the morning and is ideal for when they have guests round. As discussed here, it’s reasonably priced for how long they will use it for. Keep the receipt with it just in case they don’t like the style of the kettle, or it breaks!

Another useful item for someone’s kitchen is a toaster. It’s an essential thing that people use every day. Often, when you have had one a while, it can be marked and get dirty. Therefore, they will appreciate a new one in their kitchen. You can try and buy one which will match the colors in their kitchen. Also, if they have a family already, you could get a four toast one, rather than two, so they can cook more at once!

Something for the bedroom they share would be a good present idea. As the bed is the prominent feature, it’s good to buy something they could use with this. If you are feeling generous, you could buy them a mattress so they can have a great night sleep from now on. A lot of people tend to forget to buy a new one. But it should be changed as it does become less supportive over time. You need to buy the right size so that it fits! Remember to leave the manual with the mattress as, for example, unboxing the Casper mattress, can be harder than it looks!

Another great present idea for a couple is a pair of pillows they can use on their bed. A lot of people don’t bother changing these, but they can get dirty over time. Having good pillows is important for having a good night's sleep. Poor pillows often leave you with bad neck ache and headaches the next day. It’s also good as they both can make use of the present.

Photo Album

A photo album is a great present idea for a couple. Either you could fill it with pictures of them both. Or they can use it to put in photos from their anniversary or a holiday they have been on. It’s something they will be able to keep forever and look back at with children, and even grandchildren!

If you can’t think of a fantastic gift idea to get that couple in your life, you could buy them a voucher so they can go shopping together and choose something they like!

What To Do Before You Propose

Before you propose to somebody, there are a few things you need to consider and do. I mean, getting married is a huge commitment, and when you propose to somebody that’s what you’re promising to do. People seem to almost propose on a whim these days, but showing you’ve put actual thought into it is a must. Here’s what to do before you propose:

Check With The Parents

You don’t always have to check with parents. It isn’t the rules in a lot of families these days, in fact, it’s very traditional and old fashioned. That being said, if you want them to know you’re serious or get on their good side properly first, you could let them know your plans. In the past, they used to have a say in whether you wed or not. These days they don’t, but it can still be nice to give them a heads up if you feel everybody would like that. If not, feel free to surprise them with an excited phone call after the proposal.

Ask For Advice If You Need It

If you need advice from your other half's close friend or something, ask! Proposing can be so overwhelming, and the internet will tell you all kinds of things. At the end of the day, each situation is unique and nobody knows your other half like you, her friends and family. Ask for advice from somebody who knows your situation and you might get a better result.

Buy A Beautiful Ring

It isn’t all about the ring, but it’s an important part of the proposal. It’s the only thing that will last forever, and you can bet everybody will want to see it when you tell them you’re engaged. Take your time doing a little detective work and choosing the right one. By reading this Whiteflash review and similar reviews, you can get an idea of the best rings and diamonds out there.

Plan The Proposal Properly

Take your time planning a proposal with oomph. Don’t feel pressured to hide the ring in food and do it at a busy restaurant. You don’t have to write her name in the sky with a blimp or propose at a huge game, unless that’s what you think she’ll like. It’s ok to have the proposal just the both of you. Some like to do it on holiday, with a picnic - there are a ton of ways. What will you remember forever? What suits you as a couple? You don’t want to put your other half under pressure even if you’re sure she’ll say yes.

Make Sure You’re Both Ready

Getting engaged is a big deal. Make sure you’re both ready for the commitment. Never ever get engaged in the hopes that it’ll fix relationship problems. It won’t. Only propose if you’re both ready to make the next step in your relationship.

I hope your proposal goes just the way you want it to and you get the ‘yes!’ you’re looking for. Good luck!

Gifts For Party Girls

Do you have a friends birthday or special occasion coming up, and are a little bit stuck as to what to get her? Well, consider her personality. If she’s a bit of a party girl, how about something that celebrates this? After all, if partying is what she loves to do, why not?

Coffee Shop Voucher

What comes after a wild night out on the town for most girls? Sadly, a hangover… and a desperate need for coffee! Get your girlfriend a voucher or gift card for her favourite coffee shop, or the one nearest to her home or office. All the big name brands like Starbucks and Costa do them. Or, if she tends to go to a smaller one, nip in and ask if you can get one from them. Top it up with the exact amount for, say, five cappuccinos the way she likes them. That way she knows exactly how much use she can get out of the card. She’ll appreciate the gift when you give it here… and then again every time she needs to use it!

E-cigarette liquid
If your party girl has recently quit cigarettes, you’ll likely be pleased and relieved for her. Keep her away from them forever by ensuring her replacement e-cigarette is just as good, if not better. The industry is developing at a speedy rate and the flavours you can get now are vast. One of the best bits of smoking e-cigarettes is that you get to change up the flavour as often as you want. You could get her her favourite one, so she always have enough of it. But alternatively, you might want to find her something new, or unusual. Does she have a favourite snack? If so, see if you can find one in the same flavour. Brands such as Gourmet eLiquid have flavours like Blueberry Donut and Vanilla Custard; yum!

ID holder
Is your party girl of legal age but still looks quite young? Then make her experience of pulling out her ID all the time a little more fun! You can buy dedicated ID holders, but travel card holders work just as well. Get her a sparkly one to go with her going out outfits.  Or, go for a classy leather one and be sure it will stand the test of time. She won’t mind whipping it for the bouncers to check half as much!

Sparkling alcohol
If you’re organising a surprise party for your party girl, how about something that everyone attending can enjoy? Viniq cell shimmery liqueur is made with Vodka and Moscato. In the supermarket, you should be able to pick up some Smirnoff Gold, which has tiny gold flakes inside it. Or, if you want to give a gift that she’ll want to keep afterwards, how about a Crystal Head with a metallic, iridescent finish?

Anything glittery!
What party girl doesn’t like glitter? Add to her collection with something new. If she loves make-up, how about a glittery eyeshadow or lipgloss? If she works in an office, how about some stationery to jazz up her dress. Online websites like The Glitter Emporium specialise in all things sparkly.

5 Items Every Girl Needs In Her Handbag

It can be a rush getting ready for work. When we’re running around trying to get organized, it can be super easy to forget things. Things just slip our minds as we’re rushing out the door and we can easily leave things behind. However, there is a foolproof way to get around this and never forget anything at home ever again! You just need to make sure you pack your handbag properly. Leave these five things in your handbag all the time, and they’ll never go missing again!

Spare Keys

No one wants to be locked out of their house! If you have a spare set of keys in your bag, you won’t ever be again! This will save you a lot of stress as well as save you the pennies that you might have had to pay for calling a locksmith out. You should still try and remember your main set of keys every day. These spare ones are just in your bag as a backup in case of emergency!

If you commute to work by bus or train, your headphones will probably be one of your most prized possessions! Music is a great way to drown out the stress from the world around us, so it’s very important for a daily commute. So keep a spare pair of headphones in your bag if you forget to pick up your favorites on your way out of the house. Then you’ll still be able to chill out for a bit on the bus or train.

Make Up

If you are in such a rush that you don’t have time to apply your makeup before you leave, keep some foundation and mascara in your handbag. That way, you can always apply it in the car, on the train, or once you get to work. If you have particularly dry or sensitive skin, keep some moisturizer or another skin cream in your handbag as well. For skin that is prone to red patches, check out this whitening emulsion online.

Band-Aids and Aspirin

You never know when you may get a blister or have a minor accident and need a band-aid to cover a small cut. You also can’t predict a headache. So, to help prepare for the worst, remember to carry band-aids and aspirin tablets in your handbag at all times. If you have young children, you should pop some medicine suitable for them in too.

Hand Sanitizer

It’s a good idea to keep hand sanitizer in your bag and give your hands a quick squirt now and then. Especially if you are eating on the go with your kids and their hands get sticky! Having hand sanitizer on your at work will also prevent you from spreading or catching any germs. It can help you reduce your chances of catching a cold or the dreaded flu. You will find small bottles which are the perfect size for slipping discreetly into your handbag.

You may need to buy a bigger bag for all this useful stuff!

3 Ways You Can Become A More Adventurous Cook Today

Cooking is primarily something we all do to prepare delicious meals and snacks. But it’s always a fantastic way to relax and unwind while also giving us a creative outlet to express ourselves. But some of us can feel intimidated by the wealth of ingredients, cooking styles and recipes there are to choose from. This usually results in the same meals being made time after time due to fear of the unknown. But cooking new and exciting food is nothing to be afraid of. To help you get out of your predictable cooking habits, here are three ways to unleash your adventurous side.

Try contrasting flavours and textures

Cooking is all about experimentation and having fun. So don’t be afraid to go against what you think is right from time to time. Try adding sweet to savoury and vice versa and see what results you get. Or if you’re preparing something crunchy and brittle, a sauce could make an exciting addition to your meal. Doing this will open your eyes to more possibilities. Don’t be disheartened if your flavour or texture combinations did not work as well as you had hoped. Use it as a learning curve and let it help you make better choices next time.

Salt is not your only seasoning option

While there is nothing wrong with adding salt to season your food, it’s not your only option. You could try herbs such as dill, sage and thyme. Or condiments like balsamic vinegar, soy sauce or ground chillies. This will give your food a unique flavour and make it more exciting to eat. You could also experiment with the condiments needed for your recipe to create a different meal altogether. So instead of using BBQ sauce on your ribs, you could use paprika and black pepper instead. This can transform your favourite recipes by giving them a new and exciting edge. Always smell the seasoning you want to use before adding it to your food. This will give you some idea of what it will taste like and whether it will complement your food or not.

Get messy

Touching your food may be messy but can make you a far better cook. It gives you more understanding of their texture as well as helping you get a more intense flavour. You can use your finger to test the consistency of a sauce or dip. Or you could knead dough for cakes and bread to remove air bubbles. You could also massage hard fruit and vegetables to make them break up easier. Massaging seasoning into meat is another brilliant idea too. This may seem like a juvenile thing to do, but your food, skills and knowledge will all be enhanced by doing this. Always wash your hands before handling food, especially meats.

So start incorporating these methods into your cooking regime and see your confidence go sky high. Your taste buds will experience new and exciting flavours and your meal options will treble as a result. Try and prepare a new recipe each week to get you started.
