Organic Green Tea Matcha Review and Recipes!

I've tried green tea before, but typically it is the teabag type. I'm not much of a loose leaf tea person. But I've never heard of Matcha or powdered tea! Never did I think that I could have a tea drink with less sugar than I'd ever think to use. Can you tell that I may have been a bit skeptical before trying this stuff? But I tried it with the recipes they provided.

So I was sent this Matcha green tea powder by Kiss Me Organics to try and give my honest opinion. I almost said no, but then said wait, let's try something new! Maybe you'll like it....

So I downloaded the recipes they recommend. They offer recipes for food (pancakes and other yummy things), as well as drinks, smoothies, etc. So I took a few recipes that looked the most promising for me, and made them. Funny enough they were all drinks!

Funny enough, the claims were something I hoped were true. They claim to provide all day energy and focus, calorie burning boost, and it has 137x the antioxidants of brewed green tea. I'm all about more energy, burning more calories, being able to focus more and antioxidants are always appreciated.

So I gave it a try. I first decided to make the green tea latte.. Which apparently you can buy at Starbucks, too!
Start with 1 teaspoon of green tea powder, I added two packets of sweet n low (thanks to the Crowdtap mission I was part of). The recipe calls for honey or agave, but I didn't have any on hand. So I used the next best thing :)

 Mix the two ingredients with 1/3 warm (not boiling) water. Then I poured into a cup (using my travel mug here). 

 Then you should take 8 ounces warm milk and froth it... Well, I don't have a frother. So I looked up online and saw that I could shake it to death. So I did, in a water bottle from another brand (Shh). I shook it for about 30 seconds or so, and then once it was opened it was nice a frothy.



 Then slowly pour the milk into the green tea mix. The froth lands on top. 

 I'm not fancy and can't do designs. So I stuck my whisk in the cup to mix up a bit.
I couldn't believe how freaking good it was. My husband thinks I'm crazy, because he doesn't seem to like this. But I really do love it! I'll be making these (and buying them) for a while! I did feel a boost of energy. I felt pretty great the rest of the day, actually. The recipe says to try almond milk, which I did... but it left too much of a nutty taste, and I didn't like it. I'll stick to whole milk. Maybe a vanilla soy milk will be good.

So the next day, I tried another. This time it was the Matcha Orange Cocktail. No alcohol, but they do have recipes for real cocktails that include alcohol! I plan on trying those soon! This one should be renamed the Matcha Refresher!

So for this one, its pretty easy.
Take 1 teaspoon Matcha, 2 1/2 teaspoons sugar and mix it with 1/4 cup hot water. Mix until blended. Place 4 ice cubes in tall glass, and pour Matcha mix over the ice cubes. Let sit for 1 minute. Then pour orange juice over the top. The picture in the recipe booklet looks way better than mine. The orange is floating on top of the green. But with mine, it tends to mix.
This first pic is of just the Matcha and sugar sitting on with the ice cubes. The second photo is with the orange mixed in. See how its more yellow on top.

 Here I've mixed it up a bit and the color is even throughout.

Again, I can't believe how much I like this. There is one that I did try, and cannot stand... it was Matcha and sparkling water. I guess I'm not much of a sparkling water fan because I couldn't stand the taste. So I won't even bother posting that one.

I've been drinking one of these a day for the past 2 weeks. I 100% have an energy boost. I think that this combined with the vitamins I've been taking are really helping. But I feel a boost with just the Matcha. I admit, I'm not one to remember pills every day. So there's been days I haven't taken the pills, but I drank one of these. I got the energy boost I needed. More than what I'd ever get from coffee. Insane, right? No jitters, no sugar high, none of that crazy stuff. It tastes so good! I just want to shout it from the rooftops, I'm a Matcha lover!


I 100% recommend you get one of these and try for yourself! There are a ton of recipes on Pinterest, and I found a green tea frappucino like Starbucks makes! And it takes Matcha!

I've decided I need to buy the special whisk that is typically used to mix Matcha. I think it will work better than my typical kitchen whisk.
