Many of my friends and family know my husband works at Safeway. So we usually shop there because we get the extra perk of using my husbands work discount (which is 10% off Safeway brand items - even food!) Well, this trip, nothing purchased was Safeway brand, so no extra 10% discount, but I did have coupons, and I did save a bunch! I spent $16.52, but saved $31.27 with coupons/store deals!!! Here's what I did!
There were two coupons in this past Sundays paper for Yoplait Yogurts. It was in the one that you get every now and then for Box Tops For Education. I also used coupons that I originally planned to use at Walmart for Glade Oil Diffuser starter kit, and a Glade Expressions Air refreshers. I'm sure you have seen the blog posts saying how you would get the spray for free, and the oil diffuser for about $1. Well, every time I went to Walmart to look, they were out. So I gave up (but I still have some coupons for that, I do want to look later this week for them). Safeway actually has a sale on both of those Glade items for B1G1 free! So. Here is what I did.....
I bought 14 Yoplait yogurts @ $0.50 each ($7 before coupons).
I used: $0.50 off of 8 yogurts, and a $0.40 off of 6 yogurts. Safeway doubles the coupons, so each were worth $1. So that was $2 off, which made the yogurts $5.
Safeway had Scrubbing Bubbles bathroom cleaners for B1G1 free. I got one for the toilet, and one for the shower. I paid $4.99, and got the other free. I used a $1/2 coupon, which made the final price $3.99 for two (or $1.99 ea, depending on how you look at it).
Glade Expressions Oil Diffuser was B1G1 free - so I bought a lavender, and got pineapple/mango free. These were $8.99 each. I had a $5 coupon I used, so brought the price to $3.99 for two, or $1.99 ea.
Glade Expressions Fragrance Spray was also B1G1 Free. These are marked at $4.99ea. I had a $3 off coupon, which brought it to $1.99 - or $0.99 each.
The total before Safeway club card: $46.74
The total, before taxes and coupons was: $26.52
The total after coupons (with tax) came to: $16.52 !!!!!
The receipt tells you what percent you saved -- Which for this trip was 68%
Yay me! Not too shabby, don't ya think?
