Savings Angel

Have you watched any of those Extreme Couponing shows? Have you seen a lot more people use coupons in the stores? Probably. If you haven't, you must be under a rock!

Lately, the trend of coupons, is more than a trend. Its a lifestyle. Its a way for people to spend more of their money on other things for their family, like outings, or saving for a tip. Coupons really can save you money. I can attest to that. I saved over $161 in just one month. All by using coupons. Yea. I know, its sounds crazy! But its true.

Have you joined the Nielsen Consumer Panel

If you haven't, you should. The Nielsen Consumer Panel isn't actually work. Its actually, kinda fun.

All you do is record your purchases by scanning your items, recording how many you are getting, and if you used a store sale, store coupon, manufacturer coupon or other. They also want you to record your freebies.

You'r probably wondering why they would want this information? Well, because companies want to learn how you shop, when you shop, how often, and sales/coupons you use with products. This helps companies understand why we shop the way we do.

What do I get? Well, every time you transmit your shopping trip, you earn points. And those points can be used to redeem for some really great products. Also, sometimes they may send you things (some one received a reusable shopping bag, but I've heard of other things). They also send you surveys, via email, regular mail, and to the scanner. These surveys also earn you points. I've been a member about a week now and have just shy of 2000 points. Yea, if you shop as much as me, its that easy.

There is no right or wrong time to scan - you can choose to scan as you shop, or you can scan as you put the items away. It just depends on what your comfortable doing. (I scan as I put away).

So go apply. If they say they are not looking in your area, keep reapplying. That's how some people get in!

Let me know if you got in!

Here are some pics of the scanner I have.

Mine connects to my modem, and transmits whenever I select the menu option. Soon as I decide to cash out my points, I'll let you know what I get!
